Who we are
This website, australianmarine.org, brings together four member associations: the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX), the Australian Commercial Marine Group (ACMG), Superyacht Australia, and the Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef (a regional cluster of Superyacht Australia). The website is operated by AIMEX Ltd (ABN 94 082 384 030) on behalf of the four associations. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean AIMEX Ltd and the associations named above.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:
- your name, business name, role, email address, phone number and postal address
- details you give us when you apply for or renew membership
- details you give us when you register for an event, award or conference
- your email address and preferences when you subscribe to a newsletter
- the business information a member provides for its directory listing, such as a logo, description, contact person and business address
- the content of enquiries you send us through a form, by email or by phone
- information about how you use this website, collected through cookies and Google Analytics
How we collect it
We collect personal information when you fill in a form on this website, apply for membership, register for an event, subscribe to a newsletter, contact us, or give us information in person. We also receive business contact details from members for their directory listings.
Why we use it
We use personal information to:
- run memberships, including applications, renewals and member services
- publish and maintain the member directory
- organise events, awards and conferences
- send newsletters and industry updates you have signed up for (each email includes a way to unsubscribe)
- respond to your enquiries
- represent the industry to government and other bodies
- understand how this website is used and improve it
The member directory
Directory listings show business details that members provide for publication. A member can ask us to update or remove its listing at any time by emailing Sam Rouhan, our Membership and Sponsorship Manager, at srouhan@aimex.asn.au.
Who we share it with
We may share personal information with:
- service providers that help us run the associations and this website, such as our website host, our form, email and newsletter platforms, our event registration platform and our analytics provider
- the other associations on this website, which share administration, where this is needed to run memberships and events
- government bodies or others where the law requires or allows it
We do not sell personal information. We never sell or rent our membership lists or event attendee lists to anyone. If you are offered a list of our members, or of the people attending one of our events, it has not come from us and is likely to be a scam.
Information stored outside Australia
Some of our service providers, such as Google, store information outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure they handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses cookies and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it, such as which pages are visited and how long visits last. This information does not identify you by name. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; parts of the website may then work differently.
Keeping information secure
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and we keep it only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires.
