What is Australian Marine?

How are AIMEX, ACMG and Superyacht Australia connected?
AIMEX is the peak governing body and was established in 1998. In 2010, Superyacht Australia was created and took responsibility for the Australian superyacht industry from Superyacht Base Australia. Then in 2015, the Australian Commercial Marine Group was created within the AIMEX umbrella to service the Australian commercial marine industry, in preparation for the national regulation of commercial vessels under AMSA.
In 2025 the Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef moved into the administration of AIMEX and Superyacht Australia, and it is now Superyacht Australia’s regional cluster.
The AIMEX Board of Directors oversees all three associations, with each division having its own committee. The three share an office in Warriewood, New South Wales, and a chief executive, David Good.
What happened to the AIMEX, ACMG, Superyacht Australia and Superyacht Group websites?
They moved to australianmarine.org in 2026. The old addresses, aimex.asn.au, commercialmarine.com.au, superyacht-australia.com and superyachtgroup.com, forward to each association’s section of this site.

How do I join?
Each association runs its own membership. Businesses that make or export marine products and services join AIMEX, commercial and defence marine businesses join ACMG, and businesses servicing superyachts join Superyacht Australia. A business can belong to more than one.

David Good is Chief Executive Officer of AIMEX, ACMG and Superyacht Australia. Jeremy Spear is President of AIMEX, Nick Lester chairs ACMG, Chris Blackwell chairs Superyacht Australia and Kathleen Ferguson chairs the Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef.
What do the associations run together?
The Australian Marine Industry Awards, presented by AIMEX and open to members of AIMEX, ACMG and Superyacht Australia; the ASMEX conference on the Gold Coast, hosted by AIMEX; and the Australian Marine Industry Directory, produced each year by AIMEX and ACMG and launched at Metstrade in Amsterdam each November. Members of the three associations also exhibit together at international trade shows.
