Know the ocean. Confident decisions.
Tidetech is your science partner for metocean data — modelled and checked by named oceanographers, trusted by hydrographic offices, and built into the systems and software powering confident decisions at sea.
Tidetech helps improve performance, reduce risk and uncertainty, and lower fuel use and emissions.
Our models are built and validated by our in-house oceanographers. They cover tides, currents and water levels for the world’s oceans and coastlines, and help people make the hard calls at sea: when to enter port, which route to take, whether a performance figure will stand up.
Tidetech supplies data. We don’t build routing, optimisation or navigation products of our own, so the companies and authorities we work with can build Tidetech in without it ever competing with them.
What we provide
- Global and regional tidal current and water-level models, including high-resolution models for straits, channels and port approaches
- Global ocean currents, waves, weather and sea surface temperature, aligned in time and space
- Forecasts and hindcasts, by API or as GRIB and NetCDF files
- S-104 water-level and S-111 surface-current data for S-100 programmes
Who we work with
Marine electronics and navigation software makers, voyage-optimisation and vessel-performance platforms, national hydrographic offices, and specialist coastal and subsea operations. Our roots are in elite sailing, and sailors still use our data every day through Tidemap and our recreational subscriptions.
Founded in 2008 by a professional sailor and a coastal oceanographer, Tidetech is privately owned and based in Hobart, Tasmania, with colleagues in Europe.
