The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) is the peak body for the marine export industry. Established in 1998, it develops and promotes Australia’s international competitiveness in the marine sector as a national not-for-profit organisation governed by a board of directors elected by its members.

Australian Marine Industry Awards
Presented by AIMEX in May on the Gold Coast and open to AIMEX, ACMG and Superyacht Australia members, the Awards recognise exporters, apprentices, operators and projects.
ASMEX conference
ASMEX, the flagship conference for the superyacht, commercial and marine export sectors, has run since 2011 and is held on the Gold Coast ahead of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

Produced each year with ACMG and launched at METSTRADE in November, the Directory is the capability guide to Australia’s marine export and commercial industries.
Our story
Milestones
- 1998: AIMEX is established by 11 Australian marine manufacturers to promote Australian Made in overseas markets.
- 1999: AIMEX is awarded representative body status by Austrade for the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG).
- 2001: the first Australian Pavilion is organised at METSTRADE Amsterdam, the world’s largest marine equipment show.
- 2001: AIMEX moves its head office from Sydney to Melbourne.
- 2008: AIMEX takes responsibility for the Australian Marine Industry Awards.
- 2010: AIMEX takes responsibility for the superyacht industry after Superyacht Base Australia’s difficulties following the global financial crisis.
- 2011: the first ASMEX Conference is held for the superyacht and marine export industries.
- 2015: AIMEX creates the Australian Commercial Marine Group (ACMG).
- 2018: AIMEX’s head office returns to Sydney, moving to Warriewood on the Northern Beaches.
- 2019: the Australian Marine Apprentice of the Year Award is created, with the winner attending METSTRADE with the Australian delegation.
- 2023: AIMEX creates and hosts Marine Career Expos in the Cairns and Coomera marine precincts.
- 2024: AIMEX creates the Young Professionals in Marine Lunch at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

AIMEX is governed by a board of directors elected by its members. Jeremy Spear of Spear Green Design is President and Brad Marsden of Marine Airflow International is Vice President.
